Xiaomi confirms MediaTek’s Helio G90T SoC for gaming

Xiaomi has just confirmed the presence of MediaTek’s Helio G90T SoC in the heart of the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro. Dedicated to gaming and engraved in 12nm, the system on a chip allows mid-range smartphones to enjoy an excellent performance during an intense gaming session. A couple of days before the official presentation, the Chinese manufacturer also posted a video ad featuring the design of the new smartphones.

On August 22, 2019, Xiaomi revealed on Sina Weibo a key element of the technical sheet of the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro. the successors of the Redmi Note 7 released earlier this year. Instead of an SoC Snapdragon like their predecessors, this new range has the Helio G90T SoC, presented by Mediatek last July.

As a reminder, this SoC includes an ARM Cortex-A76 + Cortex-A55 octa-core CPU clocked up to 2.05 GHz, an ARM Mali-G76 3EEMC4 GPU up to 800MHz, 10GB LPDDR4X RAM support, and 64 MP photosensors. In fact, the Pro version of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 is equipped with a 64 megapixel Samsung Isocell sensor. Moreover, the processor promises higher performance than its rival Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730 for 3D games.

Xiaomi will present the Redmi Note 8 Pro on August 29, 2019, at a conference in China. At the same event, Xiaomi will present its first Redmi brand connected television. What do you think of this new generation of Redmi Note? Does it come too soon after the Redmi Note 7?
