Xiaomi has just confirmed the presence of MediaTek’s Helio G90T SoC in the heart of the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro. Dedicated to gaming and engraved in 12nm, the system on a chip allows mid-range smartphones to enjoy an excellent performance during an intense gaming session. On August 22, 2019, Xiaomi revealed on Sina Weibo a key element of the technical sheet of the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro. the successors of the Redmi Note 7 released earlier this year. Instead of an SoC Snapdragon like their predecessors, this new range has the Helio G90T SoC, presented by Mediatek last July.
As a reminder, this SoC includes an ARM Cortex-A76 + Cortex-A55 octa-core CPU clocked up to 2.05 GHz, an ARM Mali-G76 3EEMC4 GPU up to 800MHz, 10GB LPDDR4X RAM support, and 64 MP photosensors. In fact, the Pro version of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 is equipped with a 64 megapixel Samsung Isocell sensor. Moreover, the processor promises higher performance than its rival Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730 for 3D games.
