For several days now, the official Xiaomi profile on Weibo, a Chinese social networking site, has been publishing information about the new, super-fast wireless charging technology – Mi Charge Turbo.
Mi Charge Turbo
Today Xiaomi unveiled the cards and presented the wireless charging with the power of up to 30W! The new standard will be introduced to the upcoming Mi 9 Pro 5G. In just a few months, Xiaomi has increased its wireless charging performance by 50%!
Let me remind you that so far the fastest charging in Xiaomi’s offer had this year’s flagship Mi 9. It offers 27W standard charging via a USB type C port or 20W wireless charging.
The Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G, which will most likely have a 4000 mAh battery, will charge wirelessly at 30W to 100% in just 69 minutes. Less than half an hour, exactly 25 minutes is enough to charge the battery to 50%.
Xiaomi declares that the new wireless charger will enable charging products from other manufacturers that support induction charging, even AirPods or Apple Watches. What’s more, Xiaomi does not intend to slow down the pace and announced that the work on wireless charging with 40W power is already in the testing phase. So, next year we may see even more charging power in the new flagships.
It will be interesting to see if the smartphone will heat up while charging with so much power. With 30W, the fan will probably have to increase the speed, which will increase the noise level, and this may adversely affect the comfort of daily work at the desk.
