Xiaomi is ready to present its Smart TV under the independent brand Redmi. As teased on Chinese social network by Redmi’s CEO, the new Redmi TV will be 70 inches with 4K resolution and HDR support. The company is also expected to have smaller sizes available for sale.
After several leaks that hit the internet, the company decided that the launch of the new Redmi TV will take place in China on the 29th of August. The brand is also expected to present its new Redmi 8 and Redmi 8 PRO phone the same day. It’s an attempt to improve its market position and increase sales in the last months of the year.
The new Redmi TV will have sleek thin bezels around the display with the Redmi brand logo in the middle of the bottom bezel. There is also a small box below the logo which might suggest the TV will have a pop-up camera just like Honor Vision Pro model.
The new Redmi TVs will only be sold in China and India at this time. At the moment, there is no intention for the brand to release these models in other countries, as Xiaomi did with Mi Tv in Spain.
While Xiaomi has been in the business of Smart TVs for some time, this launch will be the first TV from the Redmi sub-brand. It is not clear if there will be any significant differences, but the Redmi brand for smartphones represents better value.
